My whole life I wanted to be an "artist". I knew I had a good eye for color and an active imaginiation regarding design, but I had not found the proper medium to showcase my abilities.
In 2004, all that changed. I saw a television demonstration on polymer clay, and my "A-Ha" moment occurred. So, I took a few classes at a local craft store where the focus was designing beads to turn into jewelry. Week after week, the students would return with finished necklaces or bracelets. I would show up with a glass, vase or box decorated with polymer clay. Once I realized that I could "break the mold" and apply the medium in an alternative way from how it was presented, my creative juices took over.
I continue to experiment and refine my techniques and am proud to say that I'm not afraid to learn by doing. (After all, that's what an artist does.) I do keep a journal of "recipes" for my products, but since my craft is not an exact science, all my designs are OOAK (one-of-a-kind).
I'm also proud and happy to be married for 40 years to my best friend, Ken, who has a dental
office in Quinton, Virginia. He's my biggest fan and I'm his. We have two married daughters.
Our older daughter, Kristen, runs a yoga instruction business. Our younger daughter, Caitlyn,
works in the food industry.
